Long Driving Rookie Booms his BRIDGESTONE TOUR B X for First PGA Tour Victory

COVINGTON, Ga. – (May 12, 2024) – Bridgestone Golf staffer Chris Gotterup captured his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the Myrtle Beach Classic. Gotterup’s confidence in his 2024 Bridgestone TOUR B X golf ball led to a final round 67 and 22-under-par total that was marked by signature big drives and clutch putting.

After a distinguished college career during which he won the Haskins and Nicklaus awards as well as being named Big 12 Golfer of the Year, the New Jersey native decided to search for the best gear for his game and made a visit to Bridgestone’s Covington, GA, facility, where he worked at length with company ball fitters. After seeing first-hand the extreme distance and trajectory control he was getting from the TOUR B X, Gotterup signed as a Bridgestone staffer and began playing the ball as he entered the professional ranks.

“I started playing Bridgestone’s TOUR B X right after college because I wanted to play the best ball for my game, and their R&D department is fantastic to work with,” said Gotterup. “Knowing that Tiger and I are gaming the same model gives me a ton of confidence that the TOUR B X is a superior golf ball. After quite a bit of testing with Bridgestone fitters I fell in love with the super high ball speeds that allow me to maximize distance without sacrificing any greenside spin or trajectory control.”

Currently #2 in driving distance on the PGA Tour, Gotterup utilized his prodigious length to tame the Dunes Golf and Beach Club layout in Myrtle Beach with four rounds in the sixties including a final round 67, highlighted by birdie-eagle-birdie stretch early in the round. On the back nine the big hitting Oklahoma alum held off the competition with relative ease, taking advantage of his long tee shots by making birdies on both par-5s for a six-stroke win, the largest margin of victory on Tour this season.

“When Chris joined the Bridgestone Golf family, we knew he was going to be a special player,” said Bridgestone Golf President and CEO Dan Murphy. “Chris had a great amateur career and after seeing his ball speed advantages with our TOUR B X, we knew this day would come sooner than later. Congratulations Chris on your first win of many! We look forward to watching you boom your ball at Valhalla.”

The 3-piece TOUR B X golf ball used by Gotterup to win the Myrtle Beach Classic features Bridgestone’s game-changing REACTIV X system that combines a REACTIV iQ cover with a new XCLRNT mid layer for explosive distance off the tee and shot stopping spin around the greens.
