PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL – Power Tee, innovator in technology that drives game improvement, golfer engagement and practice facility revenues, is proud to announce that 17 Power Tee auto-tee units have been installed at the practice facility of Hog Neck Golf Course in Easton, MD. to enhance the golfing experience at the municipal course’s driving range.
Driving ranges and golf courses, like Hog Neck, are seeing increased revenues from Power Tee hitting bays versus traditional grass or mat bays because Power Tee users hit more balls per practice session and spend more time at Power Tee stations. In turn, food-and-beverage and retail sales increase at these facilities.
“Golfers hit the balls faster, so we’re getting them to purchase more balls in the same amount of time,” says PGA of America Golf Professional Richard Setter. “Those are the factors that convinced me to go with Power Tee and we’re really optimistic about how it will be received.”
The Power Tee portion of the range renovation is actually part of the initial phase in a larger project at Hog Neck, in which the facility will construct a two-tiered range within the next year. “Adding Power Tee was kind of the teaser on the lower level of what will be our two-tiered range, and then we’re bringing in the Trackman Range technology to pair with it,” he says. “The golfers who have used it so far have given us really excellent feedback.”
Hog Neck is typically a very busy municipal facility, with respect to the range and 27-hole golf course, and has been for years. The property recently enclosed one of its open-air pavilions, and made some improvements to its nine-hole executive courses that make it more player friendly to seniors and juniors.
“We’re extremely pleased to partner with Hog Neck to demonstrate the transformative effect that having Power Tee can bring to a municipal golf course. Hog Neck is actually our first municipal range in the U.S., so breaking into that market will be huge for us. We’re excited to help Hog Neck raise the customer experience as the course continues to grow and improve and as profits continue to rise,” said Power Tee Founder and CEO Martin Wyeth.
Setter says the new Power Tee line looks fantastic, and he receives a lot of compliments about it.
To ensure realistic lie conditions, every Power Tee unit offers up to 40 tee heights that can be quickly adjusted at the push of a control panel button. The Fiberbuilt Strike Mat and cushioned standing mat that Power Tee uses are the highest quality golf mats in the industry, ensuring a comfortable experience. Golfers find far better results hitting off Power Tee by never having to get out of position while they build confidence and consistency. Power Tee also provides a clean platform to hit shots from every time, minimizing injuries to wrists, forearms, and elbows from repeated harsh impact on a hardened range mat or damaged grass. For golfers who value clean contact, pleasing turf interaction and efficient practice time, Power Tee is a gamechanger.
The Hog Neck facility opened in 1976 and was ranked in the top 25 public golf courses you could play in the U.S. from 1976 to 1998. “It’s a really good golf course to play,” says Setter. “When they get out here, they don’t realize we’re a municipal golf course. Sometimes when you hear about a municipal course, you think it’s going to be some kind of dog track. But this is a really good layout, and in good condition most of the time. So I think people are pleasantly surprised when they get out here to see how good it is, if they haven’t played it before.
Power Tee is now helping a fast-growing number of driving range and golf course owners enjoy increased revenues and improved range infrastructure from Power Tee hitting bays versus traditional grass or mat bays. The reason is simple. Power Tee users get into a groove more easily, improve faster, hit more balls per practice session and spend more time at Power Tee stations. In turn, driving range, food-and-beverage and retail sales increase at these properties. The user experience also enables more consistent swings and the ability to find a productive practice groove more quickly during each range session.
Power Tee is endorsed by 2003 U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk, 2018 Team Europe Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn, Hall of Fame golf instructor Rick Smith, and elite golf instructor Mitchell Spearman. Power Tee is installed at more than 400 ranges and clubs across 20 countries and more than 6 million golf balls are now teed up daily on a Power Tee.
