(ELMSFORD, NY, March 24, 2022) – The MGA Foundation, in partnership with Met Area clubs, has announced a unique opportunity through GOLFWORKS, its flagship internship program, for Ukrainian students currently enrolled at American colleges and universities. This initiative, spearheaded by Paramount Country Club, Spring Brook Country Club, Hollywood Golf Club, Ridgewood Country Club, Mountain Ridge Country Club, Somerset Hills Country Club, Morris County Golf Club, Trump Bedminster, Navesink Country Club, and Shelter Island Yacht Club, will aid State-side refugees who do not have a home country to return to this summer, while also meeting the demand of seasonal employment at Met Area clubs.
These student interns will be placed in any open position of the club operation, including but not limited to, work on the grounds crew, golf services, sports program management, waitstaff, kitchen, office, etc. The internship will run from the end of the Spring Semester through the beginning of August, or when the students return to their colleges/universities for the start of the 2022 Fall Semester. Students will be responsible for working with their college’s office of international studies to file appropriate paperwork, including that for a work visa.
Like GOLFWORKS, this is a paid internship. Clubs that can provide or sponsor housing is ideal, but not required. This program achieves its mission by providing meaningful summer employment and enables clubs to interact with their communities in a positive way while enriching and improving the lives of young people who are need-driven.
This special program, which is available to Ukrainian national students (and students from adjacent and impacted countries) currently enrolled at accredited colleges/universities in the United States, is set to begin by employing students this summer. Met Area clubs interested in participating in this program and Ukrainian students interested in this program should contact foundation@mgagolf.org.
