French country designed home overlooks Nicklaus Signature golf course
ALDIE, Va., Oct. 6, 2020—In 2007, the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course opened at Creighton Farms, a gated, custom home community just 55 minutes west of Washington, D.C. and within proximity of Washington Dulles International Airport. Each year, and for special events, the community welcomes Barbara and Jack Nicklaus for the Creighton Farms Invitational, a golf tournament that has raised more than $7 million for the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation since it began.
With the couple visiting regularly, Creighton Farms built a special home for the Nicklauses. Jack and Barbara provided input on the design, furnishings and interior decorating of the home. A large painting in the great room features a golden bear—a tribute to Jack Nicklaus’ nickname. The home is 5,400 square feet with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It sits on just over an acre overlooking holes 9, 14 and 15 on the golf course and is walking distance from the Creighton Farms Clubhouse. The view is stunning. Creighton Farms is owned and managed by Southworth Development.
“We always look forward to getting back to Creighton Farms,” said Jack Nicklaus. “It’s a beautiful setting and Southworth has created a nice blend of quality amenities, and a comfortable atmosphere for members and residents. We look forward to our next visit and reconnecting with our longtime friends.”
The home exterior is a classic blend of natural stone and stucco. Inside, there’s a grand entry foyer and spiral staircase; hearth room and morning room that walk out to an expansive covered patio, there is also a covered porch. A great room with 15-foot ceiling and stone fireplace, formal library with wood paneling, a light-filled sunroom and an expansive kitchen with custom cabinetry and granite countertops complete the first floor. Aside from the great room, ceiling heights are 10 feet throughout the main level. Upstairs, there’s a large owners suite with golf course views and a fireplace, luxuriously appointed bath and generous closets. Three additional bedrooms and bathrooms complete the home.
“The Nicklauses come back annually to participate in the Creighton Farms Invitational,” said Grant Heflin, listing agent with Creighton Realty. “But as much as they love the home, they have never been able to stay in it as often as they might like. So the decision was made to put it on the market and let someone else enjoy it.”
The home, “The Nicklaus,” is listed at $2.7 million and includes club membership. The community includes a large clubhouse, fitness center, two swimming pools, four tennis courts including two on clay. A state-of-the-art golf center is under construction and will be part of Creighton Farms’ existing world-class golf school.
