Chicago Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort Supports Military Personnel with Red Shirt Friday, Discount Golf Programs
Located on-property of the Chicago Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort, the award-winning Willow Crest Golf Club is known for its beautifully manicured grounds, numerous awards and accolades, and active support of military personnel. In an effort to support and thank our troops, employees and golfers alike partake in Red Shirt Fridays and the course hosts a special event for the blind and visually impaired veterans from the Hines Hospital Blind Rehabilitation Center each year. Willow Crest is also proud to participate in Marriott’s new “Fairways-Fore-FREEdom” program.
Members and staff at Willow Crest Golf Club show their support for military personnel by sporting red shirts while hitting the links on Friday afternoons as part of Red Shirt Fridays. The course is also committed to enhancing the life of those who have served by hosting a special golf event for Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois. The day’s activities include a complimentary lunch, golf instruction from several local volunteers, and more. Willow Crest Golf Club is currently the only public/resort golf course to be hosting this event in Chicago.
On Labor Day weekend, Willow Crest will also participate in Patriot Golf Day, a fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation. The nonprofit organization provides scholarships for the children and spouses of military personnel that have been disabled or killed while serving. Willow Crest golfers will be asked to add one extra dollar to their green fees on Labor Day weekend for the foundation.
Willow Crest is also proud to offer “Fairways-Fore-FREEdom,” a Marriott program introduced on Memorial Day 2012 (May 25th) and created for the men and women dedicated to protecting America. The program provides active, reserve, and retired military personnel with free and discounted golf at numerous Marriott Golf courses throughout the United States, including Willow Crest. The program runs until Veteran’s Day 2012 (November 12th).
