New Looks Brings Increased Appeal For Golfers
LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — River Hills Golf & Country Club has completed a total clubhouse renovation project that has transformed the building into a gathering spot for traveling golfers and club members alike.
River Hills is owned by Founders Group International (FGI), and the company launched the project in January, overhauling the grillroom, pro shop and upstairs banquet facility in stages.
“The reaction to our new clubhouse has been outstanding,” said Samantha Smith, the head pro and general manager at River Hills. “Even more gratifying than the compliments we’ve received is seeing golfers hang around to have lunch and watch a game. The dramatically increased time players are spending in the clubhouse is the greatest testament to the success of the project.”
“We are delighted with the look of the new clubhouse at River Hills and the ability it has to add to the golfer experience,” said Steve Mays, president of Founders Group International. “Our goal at Founders Group International is to create an environment, on and off the course, that maximizes the player experience, and the clubhouse renovation at River Hills has certainly contributed to that effort.”
The project was launched with the transformation of what was a snack bar into a full service grillroom, complete with six large HD televisions, an upgraded menu, and an L-shaped bar that creates a sports bar-like atmosphere.
FGI contracted with the Kimberly Bryant Design Group to handle the remodel, and the impact in the pro shop was equally dramatic. An open floor plan and improved lighting have allowed River Hills to better showcase merchandise and equipment, in addition to creating a much warmer atmosphere.
The banquet facility was completely remodeled as well. The decision to open the banquet room up has created additional space for meetings, receptions and parties, and a permanent bar has added to the functionality and ambiance of the room.
Over the last two years, FGI has undertaken significant capital improvement projects at six of its 22 courses. Including the work at River Hills, FGI has completed major projects at TPC Myrtle Beach, Tradition Club, Aberdeen Country Club, and the PineHills and Palmetto courses at Myrtlewood Golf Club.
