Harbour Town at Sea Pines Resort Ranks No. 12 in the U.S. by GOLF Magazine
Heron Point by Pete Dye No. 11 in South Carolina
(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) — Harbour Town Golf Links, the iconic Pete Dye design at Sea Pines Resort, ranks No. 12 in the U.S. in GOLF Magazine’s 2012 edition of “Best Public Courses,” while Heron Point ranks No. 11 in hyper-competitive South Carolina.
For Harbour Town, the GOLF honor reflects a rise of two spots from No. 14 in 2010 and continues a banner year for the Dye masterpiece. Celebrated Living ranked it fifth in its recent “Top 20 U.S. Golf Courses” and No. 2 in the “Top 10 PGA TOUR Courses” just behind Augusta National in a survey of TOUR players.
“GOLF Magazine is one of the game’s premier authorities on golf course architecture, and we’re thrilled to add this acclaim to the growing list of accolades for Harbour Town and Heron Point,” says Cary Corbitt, Director of Sports Division. “Both layouts offer a pure golf experience, are open to public and resort golfers, and showcase Dye’s strategic genius.”
While golf is the focal point, Sea Pines features an array of world-class amenities including a world-class focus on tennis. The Racquet Club boasts 23 clay courts and is ranked as one of the best in the U.S. Five miles of sweeping Atlantic beaches offer everything from sea-kayaking to fishing to surfing. The enchanted 605-acre Forest Preserve is ideal for horseback riding and hiking.
Its array of luxurious accommodations includes The Inn at Harbour Town — an award-winning 60-room boutique hotel – as well as 300 villas and 100 rental homes.
